Plan Táctico y Estratégico de la Guerra
Argentinian strategy board wargame based on Risk.
Plan Táctico y Estratégico de la Guerra, known as TEG, is an Argentinian board wargame released in 1976. It is a strategy game based on Risk, and its Spanish name translates to "Tactical and Strategical War Plan." The board is divided into six continents containing 50 countries, and the core gameplay involves dice rolls to resolve battles, much like Risk.
The objective is to be the first player to meet the conditions of either a common or secret goal. The common objective, identical for all players, is to conquer 30 countries. Each player also receives a secret objective, which is hidden from opponents and unique to that player.
The game’s 50 countries are randomly selected, and the continents are slightly misrepresented. Variants include TEG 2, which introduces different army types, and TEG: La Revancha, which keeps the core rules but adds more countries and missiles.
In popular culture, TEG appears in the film *Kamchatka*. Although the movie is set in 1976, when the game was not yet publicly available, the protagonists play it. The title refers to a Russian region used as a last-resort strategy in the game, mirroring the family’s own need to hide. The game was also referenced in a diaper advertisement, where a mother and father play TEG to decide who cleans the baby; the woman says, "China attacks Kamchatka."

Reader's Guide
TEG is significant as an Argentinian adaptation of the classic game Risk, introducing secret objectives that add a layer of hidden strategy. Its publication in 1976 places it within a specific historical context, though the game itself is a commercial product. The game has spawned variants: TEG 2, an advanced version with different types of armies, and TEG: La Revancha, which adds more countries and missiles. TEG has appeared in popular culture, notably in the film Kamchatka, where characters are shown playing the game before its public release, and in a diapers television advertisement where a couple uses TEG to decide who cleans the baby. The game's legacy includes online communities and freeware computer versions, such as TEGnet and Tenes Empanadas Graciela.
